About the Artist

Cameron Douglas was born in Perth, Scotland in 1957 and came to Canada with his family in1960. His father, a painter and art teacher, settled in Nelson, British Columbia where Cameron now lives with his wife Lorraine and two young daughters. Cameron studied Fine Art at Red Deer College in Alberta and Sculpture at the David Thompson University Center in Nelson, BC. With a keen interest in bronze sculpture, Cameron, found work with art foundries in Calgary, AB and Kelowna, BC. During this time he learned the skills of bronze casting and met many artists of diverse sculptural styles. In the fall of 1988, while travelling in Europe, Cameron found inspiration in the work of the early Cubists. On his return, Cameron set up his studio in Canmore, AB and with encouragement, worked full time on his art. In the fall of 1992, Cameron began to exhibit his work with Masters Gallery in Calgary, AB.
