Hal Ross Perrigard was born in Montreal in 1891. Later, he studied at the Royal Canadian Academy School under William Brymner and Maurice Cullen. By 1915, Perrigard's work was being displayed both at the Art Association of Montreal and the Royal Canadian Academy. About a decade later, he began to divide his time between Montreal and his studio in Rockport Massachusetts until 1960, when he died in Montreal.
