Donald Hamm studied art at the University of Saskatchewan in the 1970’s where he graduated an art major and continued studies to eventually complete all the course work required for a Masters degree. He's worked in clay, printmaking, photography and film. After graduation he worked successfully in a number of professional positions none of which, ultimately, were satisfying. At age forty, he escaped with a determination to make his living full time ‘in the arts’. He spent a number of years making ‘high end’ decorated furniture using copper, exotic hardwoods and techniques such as carving and painting. For the past decade, he has focused exclusively on oil painting. His studio is in High River, Alberta.
