Meet The Masters Gallery Framers
Leslie Drisdale
I began my framing career at the age of 19 in Edmonton. Within three years I was a wide-eyed co owner of a busy framing business in the heart of Calgary’s main gallery district. During this time, under the mentorship of my partner Terry Nolan, I developed strong design skills and a serious commitment to service and quality. In 1987 I sold my share of the business to my colleague Sverre Reid so I could focus on art education and parenthood. My pursuits over the next two decades included studies at both ACA and the U of C Fine Art Department, teaching handmade papermaking for Leisure Learning, positions at various frame shops and 8 years of fine binding and book conservation with a local binder. In 2007 I was invited to work with the team at Master’s Gallery and I am delighted to be in this familiar milieu with such respected peers and old friends. I enjoy sharing my years of experience and mature level of visual literacy with clients as we work through the framing process. The people and environment at Masters inspire my continued love of making art and encourage me to develop my skills through studies in fine binding and conservation at the American Academy of Bookbinding.

I began my framing career the hard way, by buying my own art gallery. The gallery owner trained me on all avenues of picture framing. My architectural, finishing construction, and artistic background led me well into gallery framing. I love making intensely beautiful works of art even more resplendent with fine framing.
