John Dean is a Alberta-based photographer whose artistic and commercial career spans 45 years. He graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 1975 and was awarded the ACAD Alumni Award of Excellence in 2002. He has been awarded project cost grants from the Canada Council and The Alberta Foundation For The Arts. He works with high resolution cameras and produces large, highly formalized, meticulously crafted prints in his Calgary studio.

His work has been widely exhibited in Canada, and included in invitational group exhibitions in Portugal, Russia, Egypt, and Poland. He is represented in numerous public, corporate and private collections, including The Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts permanent collection and The Nickle Art Galleries, U of C Calgary.
