David graduated from the University of Calgary in 1985 with a Degree in Fine Art. After university, David became interested in expanding the scope of his work beyond the traditional. This quest led him to begin experimenting with a number of authentic painting mediums, including acrylic paint where he discovered its unique flexibility and properties. The use of acrylic paint allowed David to create a wide variety of original and modern abstract paintings that defined his style throughout the 1990’s. More recently, David's love of hiking, canoeing, and camping have awakened a desire to combine his love of outdoors with his love of painting. David’s focus is not on capturing the beauty and splendor offered by Mother Nature on canvas. David has been able to combine his early abstract art with his present "en plein air" genre to create a unique interpretation of the beauty of the landscape that he experiences first hand. David's distinctive style has been well received and his paintings have been featured in art galleries in western Canada.
